McKinney, Texas —During this year’s renowned SEMA Show, Darrell Amberson of Quality Collision Group was honored with the prestigious National Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his decades-long dedication to advancing and transforming the collision repair industry.
Darrell has dedicated over 40 years to shaping and elevating the collision repair industry through visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He earned his degree from the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology, and later graduated from the Automotive Management Institute in 1998. After graduating, Darrell became President of Lehman’s Garage (1999-2012). He led the company through a period of transition and growth, during which he oversaw multiple acquisitions and maintained consistent profitability. After his time at Lehman’s he joined LaMettry’s Collision (2012-2024), where he played a key role in the company’s continued expansion, where he took hold of strategic acquisitions, strengthening operations, and fostering leadership development across teams. In 2025, Darrell joined Quality Collision Group as Vice President of Industry and OEM Relations, where he now focuses on OEM certifications, dealership partnerships, and the advancement of ADAS technologies. Widely respected for his integrity and vision, Darrell’s influence extends far beyond his organizations - through his leadership in industry organizations - including ASA, I-CAR, CIECA, and the Collision Industry Conference - he remains a leading advocate for professionalism and proper repair standards across the industry. This isn’t the first time his contributions have been recognized - he was also inducted into the Collision Industry Hall of Eagles in 2009.
Beyond his impressive professional achievements Darrell is widely admired for the kind of leader and person he strives to be. Known for his humility and integrity, Amberson approaches leadership with a focus on helping others grow, succeed, and develop their own capabilities.
